Mean Street (1973)

That is a movie. It feels very slice-of-life. It didn’t make much sense to me. One interpretation I found that seems reasonable is that Charlie is a devout Catholic, but he is not satisfied with the priest prescribed penance for his sins of praying Hail Marys. Instead, he wants to repay his sins more directly, and he does this through self-sacrifice by caring for Johnny. This can also be seen in Charlie’s obsession with Saint Francis of Assisi. 6/10
